The Sweetest Wedding Morning

The getting ready phase of our wedding day was absolutely one of my favorite parts of the entire day.

I've dreamed of my wedding day my entire life and it really wasn't like I dreamed. It was better.

I decided not to have my photographer there until it was time to get into my dress and I was really glad I did. The morning was slow, and I didn't feel any pressure to be going constantly as soon as I woke up.

We had planned to be at my sister's house to get ready at eight. And do you know who was late?

THE BRIDE.

I know.. I'm terrible.

Originally the plan was for Linc to hang out with my dad in the morning and Michael would pick him up around 11, but I decided instead I wanted him to be there while I was getting ready so I had to give him a bath, get him dressed, etc. {All those mom things that even on your wedding day, you don't get out of.}

I was sure that I'd be anxious once it was actually the wedding day and I wasn't at all. Throughout the planning I was pretty calm and never very stressed, and that carried over to the wedding day. It made the morning so sweet, so calm, and absolutely perfect.

So we headed to my sister's where my brother-in-law had breakfast waiting, and you know what we did all morning?

Watched Star Wars.

At one point I looked up and my boy, my sister and her husband, one of my bridesmaids, and I were all staring at the TV screen. And it almost brought me to tears.. Because it was the sweetest picture of my life. I was surrounded by the people I love dearly, and Linc man was there watching Star Wars. I literally thought, "Well of course we're watching Star Wars on my wedding day. What else would we do??"

Linc and Matt {my brother-in-law} looked on Amazon for Jabba the Hutt and all the sudden Matt said, "Do you want it?" Linc said yes, and that was it. Can you say SPOILED.

He also had fun picking out makeup I should wear. He thought it was a good idea for me to wear green on my cheeks to "look like Yoda!!!"

We drank coffee {Thank you, McKenzie!}, ate donuts, and the girls and I got our hair done. Brilee also woke up just in time to help with my makeup.

My girls all wrote me the sweetest notes, and then they gave me a blanket they all got me monogrammed with "The Hodges Est. 2016." It was the most perfect gift, and so very thoughtful.

Before I got into my dress Michael came to pick up Linc and I heard his voice outside the door. I will never forget how I felt in that moment. I was SO excited and so desperately wanted to go outside to see him.

My hair was finally done and I was so ready to be going to the ceremony.. We still had hours at that point and I was absolutely ready for 3:30.

After that my photographer arrived and I got in my dress and we headed to take bridesmaid pictures.

I had read the schedule approximately 263 times before, and yet somehow had forgotten to tell my dad to meet me for a first look. I mean I COMPLETELY FORGOT. My mom said, "Did you tell your dad what time to meet you? Is he on his way?" WELL SHOOT. ABSOLUTELY NOT. He was at home with my brother, not dressed. Sorry y'all. I get a big fail for that one. (I'm not a fan of details. Or maybe it's just that I don't pay attention to them. Whatever. It's not important.)

So bridesmaid pictures ending up happening before the first look with my dad and it turned out absolutely fine.

Future brides: Don't sweat the small stuff. The details are important but they can be rearranged. And if you forget to tell your dad to meet you beforehand, someone will fix it and you'll still be married at the end of the day.

When we got back we still had an hour and a half until we had to head to the chapel, so I got out of my dress and hung out in my robe. It was super glamorous.

My mother-in-law and new sister-in-law even came over before we headed out to the ceremony to see me and hang out for a little bit.

It was the sweetest day, with the sweetest beginning. I couldn't have asked for a better wedding morning.

Next up, bridal party pictures!

WE'RE MARRIED!!!!

We are married, y'all!

Let's pretend I'm not two weeks late with this info..

But on March 5th, we said till death do us part, and now we are husband and wife.

Because I love being able to look back at my blogs later, I'm going to try my best to actually blog the wedding, with this being the first.

It's been two weeks and I'm so grateful God gave me Michael Hodges.

I understand life won't be perfect, but I'm so glad I'm taking it on with the man I adore.

I think Linc is equally as excited {if not more} and he is LOVING having MikeHodges in the same home as him. Wrestle fights and playing Skylanders are taking up the majority of our time, and we're all good with that.

Here's to the sweetest wedding day, the best two weeks, and the rest of our lives.

Michael Christopher Hodges, I love you big.
