Summer Reads

Today I'm linking up with Rachel and Astleigh for Summer reads. As much as it sounds great to read right now, these will probably become once-I-finish-nursing-school reads. Because let's face it, the only book I'm getting to read right now is this one..

And as exciting as that looks, I'd love to be able to read some books that I don't get tested on every week. {And the great people of Starbuck's would probably appreciate if I stopped accidentally showing them the pages with gross pictures. Sorry, y'all.}

So these are some books I'm dying to get, and maybe I'll be able to sneak them somewhere into the next six months.

This is one I've been dying to read since it came out, but I just haven't had the time because of school. I've read her first two books and they're absolutely hysterical so I'm figuring this one will be too.

I haven't actually spoken to anyone who has read this, but I really want to.

This book + all of Liane Moriarty's other books. When I get done with a semester of nursing school, all I want to read is a story. Her books are perfect. I've read 'The Husband's Secret' and it was great, so I really want to read some more from her.

I actually got this book for free and I'm really excited to read it when I get some free time.

It's going to be a good Summer.. especially if I actually find some extra time to read. So what are some other books I just have to read?

Our Summer Plans

It's June.. say what?!

We've already flown through five months of the year {which is crazy} and now it's officially summertime. Lincoln is out of school and even though I'm in school, I still want to make time for us to do fun things on my days off. Here's what we have planned..

Canoeing. We're actually on our way to do this today. The infamous Mike Hodges came up with this one. I'm not exactly "outdoorsey" so we'll see how this goes. We're going to make a day out of it and I'm pretty excited.. despite my lack of love for the outdoors.

So little faith in me.

Bike riding. Linc has recently started loving to ride his bike which is absolutely fabulous. Exercise for both of us and it's a lot of fun. This is one that we'll do at least once a week.

Vacation Bible School. This will be Lincoln's first year of VBS and I'm really excited for him. I know he misses kids during the Summer so this will be perfect for him.

Going to the beach/pool/park. All local. All free. All have water. Need I say more?

Eating ice cream. I mean, it's Summer. Isn't that what Summer is about? If it's not, we're going to pretend it is. Linc and I are both huge fans of ice cream, so we'll be eating ice cream so we can "cool off," or at least that's what I'm telling myself.

Visit the zoo. We're members at the zoo, so it doesn't cost us anything to go. We'll probably go quite a few times this Summer.

Bowling. I think one day a week {or something that I need to figure out} Lincoln can bowl free. And heaven knows I am all about free things.

Go to the water park. I'm really excited about this one. Linc is getting big enough to where I don't worry as much about him, so I'm excited to take him to a fun new water park.

Nature walks. I love taking Linc man on walks where I can really talk to him. No toys. No TV. Just me and him.

Hang out with Geesh and Papa. Lincoln adores my parents. On days that I'm at school/work/clinical, they do extra special things with him, like feeding the birds at the beach because I may or may not be terrified of birds. Hypothetically.

Play in the sprinkler. Because what would his childhood be if I didn't let him do this? My mom just bought him a fun one and I'm sure we'll be trying it out soon.

Go to the movies/have a movie night. I don't know if anything good is coming out soon, but Linc's been dying to go to the new movie theater in town. Home is coming out on DVD in July and we'll definitely be having a movie night with that one.. if not for him, for me.

Library trips. My boy is a huge fan of the library. He'll be so excited to pick out new books and I'll be so bummed that all I get to read is nursing books.

Hang out with friends and family. This is what I'm most excited about. I'm sure he'll want to hang out with his best friend often, and I will too. Hopefully my brother and his wife will be able to come down and spend some time with us, too!

It's going to be a good Summer in the Fussell home!
