10 Bible Verses for Anxiety

If you've been following me for a while then you know I'm in nursing school. Out of all the things that could possibly stress me out in life nursing school does it best {and also potty training.. but that's a post for a different day}.

Tuesday night I was studying for my hesi/final and I got a text that our newest class had opened online. I looked at the schedule and immediately panicked. I'm talking rapid breathing, sweating, how-am-I-ever-going-to-survive panic.
I knew I didn't need to freak out because I had my test in the morning and I also knew that studying more for my test wasn't going to help when I was already stressing out.
I headed to my room and pulled out my Bible, a notebook, a pen and a highlighter and I went to finding any possible verse that could calm my anxious heart.

Yours may not be nursing school. It may be your spouse, kids, finances, job, whatever. We all have things that send us into a panic.

The key to calming our anxious hearts isn't to have all the answers, it's to trust in the One who does.

I find that the best thing I can do when I'm upset is to go sit in the presence of the One who has it all figured out. The One who knows my heart, my needs, and my circumstances.

These are the verses that helped calm my heart.

Thus says The Lord to you: 'Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God's.' 2 Chronicles 20:15
And those who know Your Name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have no forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:10
I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart. Psalm 9:1
In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul. Psalm 94:19
I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you. Psalm 46:4

Blessed is the man who trusts in The Lord, and whose hope is in The Lord. Jeremiah 17:7
I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, nor shall they be lacking, says The Lord. Jeremiah 23:4
With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26
When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to The Rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61:2
Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
What are some verses you turn to when your anxiety gets the best of you?

Five {Or Six} on Friday

Happy Friday, friends. I have so much to share this week. If you like to just skim blogs, I ask that you at least read right below this in bold, and then also number five. Those two things are super important to me! I really appreciate y'all reading and being such an encouragement to me!
If you only read this one thing, I need to ask for prayer for a very sweet friend of mine in nursing school. Just Tuesday night they found out her dad has cancer. It is inoperable, but it is treatable. I know y'all are absolutely incredible about praying for me because I feel the peace every time I ask. So please be praying for her and her family, and that God would heal her dad and bring glory to God through this circumstance.
I believe when we pray, God listens. He blesses the prayers of His people. This man loves the Lord and so does His daughter. I know their family appreciates these prayers.
My five six things this week are really important to me.
So let's get to it!
This is by far the best. Monday I passed my test with a 90 and Wednesday I passed my hesi with a 919!!!! I needed a 624 to pass the class and an 850 to actually pass the hesi. So I passed my psychiatric mental health class with a B!!
Time to educate. The number one question I get when I talk about nursing school is 'What's a hesi?' And if you read this blog for the next year, you'll hear the word again so you might as well know what it is. The hesi is a standardized nursing test straight from the devil himself. There is nothing in this world that stresses a nursing student out quite like a hesi test. We take one at the end of every one of our classes on the computer and it has the potential to really lower your grade.
So I passed my hesi and I am SO excited. Psychiatric mental health nursing is over and now it's onto adult health 1.
Speaking of adult health 1.
I saw my schedule and I can tell it's going to be a awful ridiculous hard terrorizing brutalizing tough seven weeks. My posts are going to be few and far between so bare with me. Also, I could really use and appreciate the prayers.
You know a class is going to be tough when you get an assignment due on the first day of class. Yeah.
But it's what I want to do, and I really am excited to be moving forward and to be going to clinicals more often! Yay for being one step closer to being a nurse!
{To keep up with us while I'm buried in books follow me on Instagram @carefuss}
I have to brag on these people for a minute.
My family has given so much of themselves to help me get through nursing school. They've always been there, but they've really sacrificed during this time. My mom comes home from work exhausted but watches Lincoln so that I can study or do school work. My dad takes off work to watch him while I go to school. My sister and Matt watch him when my parents can't. I was born into such an amazing family, and I'm so beyond grateful for all the help they've given Lincoln and I.
And this picture is a new favorite of mine.
{For those who are wondering.. McKenzie is missing because this was when Kaysley and I went to see Pearce before the actual wedding. I don't have a picture of all of us.}
Yes. It deserves capital letters.
Happiness abounded when I saw this screen.
After Squaretrade fixed my computer they shipped it back with FedEx. FedEx lost it somewhere in New Jersey and after my dad talking on the phone to people for almost two hours {because there's nothing I hate more than confrontation} they happened to find it and now it's home and I am so happy!
I have a blogger friend named Mia and her brother was in an ATV accident back in September. You can read the whole story here, but to sum it up there was a lot of carelessness {not by her brother} and once the accident happened no one {including the adult with the teenagers} called to get help. After three hours they reported it but that time was so critical to his recovery. He is now in a nursing home and their family is in desperate need for the funds to get him into a rehab center. He is 17 years old.
I'm asking you to please think and pray about helping them out financially. They {and I} would be so grateful and every little bit counts. Nothing is to small. You can give here.
If you can't give financially, you can do two other very important things. Pray. Pray for his healing, the funds, for a rehab center to take his case on, for his family in this time. Also, share this. Share my blog on your Facebook, or write your own post.
If you want to stay updated on Mayberry, here is the Facebook page his mom updates. You can also sign the petition here to help get justice for him.
If you do anything from all of what I said above, thank you. I know their family is so grateful and I can't even imagine what it would be like to be going through that with a son.
That's right. I'm shaking this up a little.
Basically because my son is precious, and things he says should be recorded so I can remember them forever. Here are a few sweet things from this week.
Linc: "Mommy, I love you when you're sleeping."
Me:" You do?"
Linc: "Yeah. I love you when you're awake, too."
Linc: "God, please help Mommy pass her test."
My sister's dog, Chance, is staying with us this week while they're on vacation and the other day I saw Lincoln walking around with my mechanical pencil and the lead was sticking far out. He looked really determined so I asked him what he was doing. "I'm trying to give Chance a shot." That, folks, is why you don't show your child how to give a shot.
Linc was running around like a crazy person the other morning and I said what're you doing? He said, "I'm trying to find Chance. I'm trying to find my best friend." Good luck getting your dog back, sister.
Because when you're three year old asks to have a picnic in the front yard and then take silly pictures, you do it. And it goes down as an amazing memory. I love this boy and that precious face.
Tomorrow morning I'm going to be back posting {Two days in a row?! What?!} my favorite Bible verses for when anxiety wants to consume your heart. I hope y'all have an amazing weekend!

Batman + Life Lately

I've really been missing my life lately posts, where I post pictures of what we've been up to. So I'm going to try to do those more often now. They're usually long, but I know I'll want to look back and see these pictures.

So here's what we've been up to the past few weeks.

My mom gave me this coffee cup {a couple weeks early} for Father's Day. It's always special when someone recognizes a single mom on Father's Day. Isn't it so cute!?

Lincoln lined these up and said, "Look! It's a C!"

SO excited for his first swim lesson.

We tackled swim lessons!

My friends and I piled in my car before our first psychiatric clinicals.

Linc decided {in 90 degree weather} to wear slippers and I said yes.

We played at our favorite park with friends.

I went for a nine mile bike ride and had some seriously sweet time with Jesus.

We watched How to Train Your Dragon for the first time which just so happened to start a huge obsession.

We've been to the beach quite a few times, too. We even have a new favorite spot!

My new book and necklace got here!

We had more swim lessons!

We went for frozen yogurt to celebrate my 84!

We went trail walking in the "secret forest" and Linc picked my mom and me flowers.

Our obsession with Batman began.

We headed to see How to Train Your Dragon 2 in 3D .. and then left because Linc was terrified. But at least we looked cute.

Lincoln modeled in our driveway.

My sister and brother-in-law added fuel to the Batman fire by bringing over a paid of pajamas, two new shirts, and a shirt with a cape on it. That's on top of the other Batman shirt, Batman cup, and Batman toy he has. He literally hasn't gone a day since without wearing something Batman.

We went out to dinner for Father's Day.

Where my dad sung "My Linc" and danced in the parking lot. {His version of "my Girl"}

I found Linc sleeping like this for the second time that week. That can't be comfortable. {See.. Batman pajamas}

I found this on Facebook and loved it. So perfect.

I posted this picture on Instagram {@carefuss} and you people went nuts. That's what happens when you don't get dressed up much.

Happy Father's Day to the Dad who has been there since the beginning. You have coached me, stood by me through a teenage pregnancy, stood in the delivery room with me, loved Linc since the beginning, helped, encouraged, provided, and loved me.. You are the epitome of what a dad should be and I love you more than words can say. Lincoln and I love and appreciate you.

And to top off the sweet with a little bit of terrifying.. Lincoln came in the room and said, "Look at this!" Oh my word.

So that's what we've been up to these past few weeks. I hope you're having an amazing week and seeing God in everything you do.

Swim Lessons

When I originally started this post, I included our beach trips lately, but it was entirely too long. So the beach post will come either later this week, or next week sometime.

I have been so excited to put Linc in swim lessons. I decided a couple years ago that when he was three I'd sign him up. So here we are.

His teacher, Nan, is amazing. He is so comfortable and she does an amazing job with him. If I feel comfortable with someone holding my baby in a pool and it not being me, that's saying something. Seriously. From the moment we started lessons she has impressed me!

Linc does private lessons because that worked better for our schedule, but I think even next year I'll do private lessons. They're a little more expensive, but totally worth the extra attention he gets.

Linc hates getting his hair washed/water in his eyes in the bathtub, so I was super nervous for lessons. But he's done great! He's had two lessons and got much better for the second. His third lesson is tomorrow, and he'll have seven more after that

He must have asked her a million times if he could jump in the pool again. And every time she'd be helping him do something {because obviously he'll sink if she lets go}, he tells her "I want to do it by myself."

Well then, mister independent.

You have your Momma's genes, son.

For the second week I didn't take pictures. Just this one while we were waiting to start. Isn't that boy so cute?!

I'm really excited to see how far he comes by the end of lessons, especially if I keep working with him once or twice a week!

Be looking out for our beach post! Have an amazing Monday!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday, friends! Wednesday I had a test so I took that night to read my bible, a book, and blog! Which is exactly why you have quite a few posts coming your way! Look out Monday for a swim lesson update! {Hint: it's super cute!}

I posted Linc's graduation/last day of school pictures yesterday and if you missed that you can go check it out now.

Here are my five things this week!

Monday was a really good day. All three things I was waiting for in the mail arrived! The book I ordered, the necklace {which is on sale right now. You're welcome.} I won from the giveaway on Elise's blog, and the box I needed to ship my computer to my warranty people to see what they can do about fixing it.

I've started the book and it's amazing, I haven't worn the necklace {because I literally haven't worn anything dressier than a tshirt since then. Yikes!}, and I did get my computer shipped. They have also received my computer since then so I will know in 2-5 days what I need to do.

I PASSED MY TEST!!!!!!!! I made an 84!

I am two weeks away from being done with this class. Please be praying for me as I take my last exam and a HUGE hesi test.

Lincoln is all of the sudden obsessed with Batman. Seriously. It's Batman everything at this point.

My sister and Matt came over last night and brought a Batman shirt and sunglasses they got him. He was thrilled, put it on immediately, and insisted he sleep in the shirt AND the sunglasses. So I said why not?

And like Lincoln's signature style.. the glasses are upside down.

Last Sunday I served in the nursery at church for the first time and it was the sweetest thing. We had eight I think and it was just precious to love on them. As I held each one I prayed over them. Sometimes I think we want this huge vision from God.. this grand plan. Sometimes serving Him is holding babies in this nursery while parents get to go worship Him.

Your part in Jesus plan is not small. No matter what it is.

In six months I will have a precious new baby to hold. I am so excited for my niece/nephew to get here. Seriously. I love this baby so much already and I can't wait to meet them!

I bought Linc the movie "How to Train Your Dragon" this past Sunday and he literally has watched it at least 15 times since.

So when I saw that "How to Train Your Dragon 2" was coming out I knew we had to go see it. Immediately.

So today we're heading to the movies to see it. In 3D!!!!!

Usually we don't see 3D movies because they're so expensive and he doesn't know the difference. But because this is his most favorite movie ever at this point, I figured we'd splurge and have a fun day with his favorite movie + 3D.

I'm seriously so excited, and so is he! I'll let you know how it goes.

And speaking of How to Train Your Dragon.. Lincoln asked me to draw a dragon the other day so I thought I'd be artistic and draw Toothless {the dragon from the movie}.. Before I was even done he looked at me and said, "That looks like a camel." #momfail

What are some fun things you're looking forward to?
