Life Lately

Hi strangers! Here's the deal.. If you've been reading my blog within the past few months you've noticed I'm awful at keeping a scheduled blogging time. I tried the picture a day idea and it just isn't working. There's no way between Jesus time, Lincoln, school, and taking care of things around the house that I can blog every day. It's just not realistic at this point in my life. So instead I'm going to start doing random updates of different things, and it will most likely never be the same day each week but I'm going to try to keep it more regular. I'm going to try to post at least once a week, usually on Monday's. Monday is test day at school and usually the end of a very long week of studying so I like to take it easy Monday night. In fact, I usually go to my sister's house and watch The Bachelorette (please tell me I have some fellow Bachelor/Bachelorette fans on here!), so I don't do much school anyways. So here's an update on me and Linc.. because I've obviously been doing an awful job posting!

We have been enjoying the heck out of summer with lots of trips to the pool! My sister and brother-in-law are moving into a new house and we've gone to their new pool a few times. It's great! A kiddie pool that Linc loves and then a pool with an awesome shallow end that he also loves. AND he got this floaty that is a life saver! When we tried the separate floatys (is that a word?) on each arm he hated them so every time we went to the pool I ended up holding him the whole time, which gets tiring. He literally asks to wear this one and I can completely let go of him and he stays above water. If you have small children, go buy one! It's worth it's weight in gold.

School is going good other than my pharmacology class which is awful. Seriously, it is so hard. I feel okay in every class but that one so I'm going to start studying now for my test that is in two weeks. But in good news, I PASSED MY SIMULATION!!!!!! Which is awesome because in two days I will be heading to the hospital for my first clinical!!!! I am beyond ecstatic, and a little bit nervous but it will be great! I don't know that I have ever been so nervous for anything in my life as I was when I sat down at the table with my professor to start my simulation. (So nervous that I tried to do math for something that all you had to do was look at the number and inject that much medicine.) Ridiculous. I know. But don't worry, I will not be that nervous in the hospital, promise.

Empty parking lot.

I took this when I was walking up.. My car all by itself.

Last Saturday Kays, Linc, and I went to MOSH for the first time. If I'm being honest, it was just okay. I was expecting it to be a lot bigger. It only took us a little over an hour to go through the whole thing, and that's including the dinosaurs (which is saying something because Lincoln loves dinosaurs and never wants to walk away from them). Lincoln really loved the live animals and we spent a lot of time looking at those. It was fun for us to do something new, but I probably wouldn't take him back often.

I got no pictures inside of MOSH because I was so busy chasing Lincoln around, but I did get this one of the prettiest fountain I've ever seen. And I really had an urge to jump in it, because it was so hot outside.

This is the thing.. Lincoln loved the turtle at MOSH and even said "my turtle" so I had a bright idea to go buy him a turtle.. That day. So we headed to Petco and looked at all the animals. I considered buying him a guinea pig until my sister texted my mom and I could feel her wrath through the phone. So then we looked at the turtles again and I asked Linc if he wanted one, and he said "no turtle" which is odd because he loved the one earlier. So he decided he wanted a fish. So he got one! And he named it DoDo (pronounced dough dough) and let me tell you what.. he LOVES that fish. I mean really. He absolutely loves his fish DoDo. It's a Betta fish, and we're gonna try to beat our 6 week life record with Charlie (Lincoln's past fish).

This is such a sweet picture to me. I mean, really, look at how happy he is!

Onto different news that probably won't be exciting for any of y'all, BUT, I got a new bed! Well okay, my parents gave me their bed but this bed is wonderful. It's a king size bed (my old one was a full size) and it's so incredibly comfortable! I don't know what it is but I have always wanted a king size bed, I think it's because it's so huge and I get it all to myself! So I got my room all arranged, my bed set up, and a new comforter and I'm sure you'd all love for me to share it with you, so here you go!

Pure happiness.

My mom is watching a dog for a friend of hers and Lincoln is in love. Her name is Katey and I'm pretty sure she's sick of my toddler laying all over here. It's completely precious, though.

See. So sweet.

Lincoln went to see his first movie!!!!! I don't have pictures, but still. We went to see Monsters University (super cute movie by the way!) and he did SO great! He got peanut butter m&m's and he stole some of Uncle Matt's popcorn and he sat through the whole movie (with a little bit of standing in between the actual sitting). We only walked out once and that was to change his diaper. I couldn't believe he let us watch the whole thing though, I was so proud!!

Wow. I didn't realize I had so much to update on. I'm sorry for an incredibly long (and probably incredibly boring to you) post! But that's what's been going on in our life lately! Hope you enjoyed! And I'll try to update more regularly!

And here's to end your day with a smile..
Me: "It's time to get a bath, baby."
Linc: "No bath, baby."
In the end, Momma won and he had to get his bath. But it was still so sweet anyways!

Happy Father's Day!

Growing up, Father's Day was about one person.. My dad! I was blessed with an absolutely incredible dad. He is awesome! But now that I have Lincoln, Father's Day is incredibly important to me because of three incredible men that I would be lost without! I've realized that Father's Day is really about the people who love unconditionally and are there through it all.. And there are three amazing men in Lincoln's life who do just that! I have more respect for these three than they will ever know and I am so thankful for the heroes that they are in Linc's life!

My Dad has stuck by my side through it all. He spent years coaching me and then got thrown a curveball when I announced at 17 that I was pregnant. Through it all he's loved me and I am positive that I couldn't ask for a better dad. He has stepped up in Lincoln's life in so many more ways than just being 'Papa'. Although he is an incredible papa, he has stepped in as a dad, too. He has changed diapers, made breakfast, and cuddled with my sweet boy in ways that most grandpa's never get the chance to. And although I can't wait for the day that Lincoln and I are independent and are able to move into our own place, I am so grateful for the time that we are getting to live with my sweet dad. These are precious moments, and I am so thankful that we get to spend them with him.

My brother is an incredible uncle. God has done some incredible things in Pearce's life in the past three years and I am so thankful for the Godly man that he is, especially because he is around Lincoln so much. Pearce mentioned a while back that no one can truly love unless they know The Father's love and I have found that to be so true. I am so thankful for the love that comes from Pearce's heart to Lincoln. I got to watch a couple months ago Pearce teach Linc how to pray for healing over someone and it was so precious. Thank you, brother bear, for loving my son so unconditionally. I pray that he turns out just like you.

My brother-in-law, Matt has really stepped up in Lincoln's life. You hear about people marrying into families that just don't really fit and that's really not the case here. Lincoln is not even blood related to Matt but Matt loves him like a son. He has taken so much responsibility for Lincoln and has been there for me since I told my parents I was pregnant (literally, he was in the next room when I told them)! I have so much respect for the way that Matt loves Lincoln. He doesn't put up with Lincoln because he has to, he genuinely cares about and loves my son like crazy and I am so incredibly thankful for that.

There really are no words that I could use to adequately describe how thankful I am for these men who have stepped up in Lincoln's life and loved him like their own. I am so blessed to know men who are passionate about Jesus and Lincoln. I will never be able to repay them for what they have done for us, but I am so incredibly thankful. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy. As you can see, they're crazy about Lincoln. And he's pretty crazy about them, too! (I may have gone overboard with pictures, but they're so sweet, and you should see them all!)
