Day 11!

Day 11
May 27, 2013

We have had a bad behavior day. I mean, really.. It was 3:00 in the afternoon before Lincoln started being nice. This is obviously after 3:00, because he's smiling. I was so happy that he was behaving that I let him make this huge mess. It should be incredibly interesting to clean up. SO happy for some Linc smiles after such a rough day!

Days 5 - 10!

I'm super awful at this. I mean, really.. I'm terrible. Here goes my attempt at catching up!

Day 5
Tuesday, May 21

Mondays are test day at school so I always wear a tshirt and jeans. Tuesdays are my dress up days. I even put on makeup this past Tuesday. That's gotta cancel out my unattractive look on Mondays!

Day 6
Wednesday, May 22
Pretty sky on the way to school!

I asked Lincoln to smile for a picture and this is what I get. Only slightly terrifying, right?

Day 7
Thursday, May 23

We decided to watch a movie and this is how he chose to lay down.

Throwback Thursday!

Day 8
Friday, May 24
I so love Kirklands, especially when they're having a sale! New house stuff!

My sweet Superman. So cute!

My boy woke up sick :( No sleep for us!

Day 9
Saturday, May 25

Cinnamon and I took the boys to the St. Mary's aquatic center today! Love spending time with our best friends!

Day 10
Sunday, May 26

My sweet angel has strep. I seriously can't believe how energetic he has been all day considering we were up ALL last night. Here's us laying in bed watching Cars.. We've been doing that all day long.

Day 4!

Okay, so after this post I will be all caught up! I'm sorry for being so behind the past few days! I'll try to start keeping up more!

Today I came home from school and when I walked up to the house a snake tried to kill me. Okay, maybe that's dramatic.. But a snake really was about four inches from my foot and I had flip flops on. SICK. Then before dinner I tried to kill it but it got away. After dinner I saw it again and finally killed it. That's right. I hate snakes, so this is a huge accomplishment. Plus my mom gave me $25 for killing it for my insane bravery. (Please notice my adorable leopard print rain boots, which are perfect for not letting snakes crawl on your feet!)

And all this happened after some geese tried to chase me down at school today. It is not my day for animals!

Day 3!

Day 3 - Sunday, May 19th, 2013

I got the cutest wedges from Payless the other day for $10. I was so excited to wear them to church Sunday! You can't see them much here, but take my word for it. They're adorable!

Lincoln wanted to go for a walk in his stroller yesterday so we headed off for a two mile walk. About halfway through he decided he'd rather walk the rest of the way. He ended up walking almost a mile!

Day 2!

Good grief. I told yall I would be bad at this. I'm three days behind on my picture of the day already. In all honestly, it's not even that I didn't have time, I just completely forgot I was doing this. So tonight I'll get caught up!

Day 2 - Saturday, May 18th, 2013

Linc Man got to ride the carousel twice when we went to the zoo today. It's his favorite!

We also had Chance for the weekend while MoMo & Uncle Matt were out of town. It's a wonder they didn't kill each other. (Has anyone else noticed that my child is getting skinny?!)

Our friend Cinnamon came to stay with us Saturday night!

Sorry I had so many.. I couldn't choose just one!

A Picture a Day..

Okay so I've decided something.. I think I'll post a picture a day on here for a year. Now Heaven knows I'm not good at this kind of thing, so don't count on it working out. But from May 17th, 2013 - May 17th, 2014 I'm going to try to take a picture a day. To ensure that I keep this up I'll be taking them on my phone, because there's no way if they go on my camera I'll upload them each day. And to be honest, sometimes I'm not good at choosing between photos, so I might have more than one. So I apologize in advance!

There is something about Linc's laughter that brings so much overflowing joy to my heart. I am so thankful for the blessing than God knew I so badly needed. He is my greatest joy, and the biggest blessing in my life by far.

First Week.. Down!

So I've made it through my first week of nursing school.... Almost! Thursdays are my off days from school so I figured I'd write this while I had a free second. Don't worry, I won't do weekly updates about nursing school. If you really cared that much, you'd probably just go to nursing school yourself. I probably will start doing monthly updates though! I have been to 3 of my 4 classes this week so far and I am so excited, and a tad bit overwhelmed, too. Tomorrow (Friday) is my pharmacology class, and I've heard that it's everyone's least favorite, so I figured it would be good to let y'all know how my week is going before I step into that class. It's only my first week of school and I'm overwhelmed. I have three tests on Monday morning. Yes. THREE. As soon as you walk in the teachers start reading the syllabus and it's crazy. I must have heard the word 'HESI' 5,693 times in three days. Our summer term is only 12 weeks long which means we have to learn everything and do the same amount of assignments in four weeks less than every other semester. To put it in short, two weeks from yesterday we will start doing injections. With needles. That's only three weeks of class to learn a whole lot of stuff in. But I'm so unbelievably excited! Monday are testing days, so I don't have class. This Monday, however, we had to go to school to get some access codes and we're still having problems with those. Tuesdays I have two, four hour long classes. Wednesdays I have a class that goes from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Not joking. Thursdays I have a day off and then Fridays I have pharmacology. This week has been crazy so we haven't gotten to eat lunch really. Unless you consider lunch scarfing down three bites of PB&J. But in all, I really am SO excited. We start clinicals in seven weeks, which is crazy exciting. My teachers (so far) are all very nice and very helpful. I'm excited to see what this summer brings! Thank you to everyone who has been faithfully praying for Lincoln and me, and for everyone praying for my schooling to be worked out! God is so good to have worked all of this out and to allow me to be in nursing school right now. I am so unbelievably thankful for the way He is working in mine and Lincoln's life! And in August 2014 I will get to walk across the stage for my son. GOD IS GOOD!

A New Adventure

I'm a nursing student.

That carries so much weight in my soul. It makes me happy. In four days I will walk into my first nursing school class. That's so crazy to me. I'm not supposed to be here. I'm supposed to be a single mom who can't provide, a single mom who didn't finish high school and never started college. I've dreamed of being a nurse since Mr. Carver's biology class. (Yes, I'm serious.) That was six years ago. (My freshman year of high school was six years ago, I'm getting old. I kid. I kid.) But really, I'm so in awe of God that He does such big things in my life. How awesome is it that The God who created the heavens loves me and wants me to have a successful life. A life full of Him. A life full of joy and happiness and an amazing future.

I can't even begin to describe my emotions as I know I'm about to step into a really difficult 15 months. Excited. Anxious. Overwhelmed. Happy. And maybe a little bit nervous. My blog posts are sure to be interesting for the next 15 months. Oh, and don't worry. I will let you know every single month that I'm one month closer to graduating. Yeah, you'll likely be sick of me by the end of it. But it should definitely be an interesting ride. And in August 2014, my name will officially be Carrington Fussell RN!

And what would this nursing school post be if I didn't include a pictures of the massive amounts of first term books that I will likely want to burn in two weeks?

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. [Romans 8:28]

First Overnight Trip!

So this past weekend Lincoln slept away from home for the first time ever. Yes. He's two and he had never slept anywhere but his bed. ..For good reasons, too. This sweet kid is on a great schedule, and this momma did not wanna mess that up. But since Uncle Pearce was graduating this weekend, we loaded up the car and headed to Tampa! Lincoln, Papa, Geesh, Momma, MoMo, and Matt all went. I'm not even gonna lie, I'm so proud of him for how well he did!

So Friday morning at 8:00 we headed out. (With a whole lot of snacks, toys, movies, and juice, I might add.) Lincoln watched movies the whole drive, and did wonderful. Portable DVD players are a lifesaver. I want to say we only stopped twice.. I could be wrong though.

This was at soon as we started the trip. Yawning at 8:00 in the morning.. Not good.

He perked right up when he got some chicken nuggets at lunch, though.

And we basically got to enjoy a flood in Starke, FL.

We got to Tampa much earlier than we expected and we went straight to graduation. That was good until Lincoln decided sitting down was no fun. So we walked.. and walked.. and walked.. until it started. Lincoln sat on one of the steps because heaven knows that seats aren't quite as awesome as the steps that everyone has to walk up to get to their seats. By the end of it, Linc was exhausted and ready to go. Which is why he's not in any of the family pictures.. Not smiling at least.

See what I mean? Tired, hungry, and ready to get out of there. (But oh, so cute in his striped polo!)

So then we went to dinner and by that time I had no clue where the camera was.. That and the fact that Lincoln didn't want to sit in his seat and pictures were the last thing on my mind. After dinner we went back to the hotel, and my little water bug did his thing.

Let's add to this trip that he loves to run down hotel hallways. Like Dash. From the Incredibles.

His face is priceless in this picture. You'll have to zoom:)

Then came bedtime. I have no pictures of that. But it went a little bit like this.. Tried watching TV. He wouldn't sleep. Turned the TV off and he heard people in the pool so he sits up to tell me, "Oh my!" 16 times.. Then I go to turn all the lights off and I stub my toe.. Finally late at night he fell asleep from exhaustion. And despite the fact that we had a queen bed, he slept on top of his mom.. All night long. I probably had 1/16 of the bed to myself. After a long night of kicking me and cuddling (kind of), he woke up at 6:40. (For those of you who don't know his schedule, that's earlier than normal.) So we got up and had breakfast.

And of course I have lots of pictures because it was early in the morning and we were 'well rested'.. or something like that.

And then back to the pool we went!

Then we went shopping for a little bit while we waited to go to IKEA with Uncle Pearce.

Where I snapped this incredibly adorable shot of him reading (a coloring book) in Barnes and Nobles. He also got a shirt for the winter that says 'My Mom Rules.'

Then we went to IKEA, for a really long time. After that we had lunch, and headed home..

And of course little boys who have big weekends fall asleep as soon as they get in the car.. :)

Congratulations Uncle Pearce, we love you!

Let go. Just jump.

This weekend my family went to Tampa for a couple days to watch my brother, Pearce, graduate. It was also the first time Linc slept away from home since he was born. (Don't worry, I'll blog about that in the next few days.) We had a heated pool at the hotel we stayed at, which meant that we ended up swimming twice. This is the first time Linc has swam in a big pool since last summer. What did I find out? He is my little water bug! He LOVES swimming. So much so that he didn't want to get out to go to bed. He would dunk his head under, kick his feet, and splash everyone within a ten foot radius. One of his favorite things was to stand on the side and jump in to me. At one point he even decided that he would love to see if he could fall backwards into my arms. (And yes, I caught him every time.) He was absolutely fearless. He's two. He can't swim. And yet, he had so much trust that when he jumped into waters he couldn't swim in, that his Momma would be at the bottom to catch him so he didn't sink. Then God hit me with a thought. Why am I not like this with Jesus? He is my Daddy who holds the world. Even when I approach waters I can't swim in, I should have so much faith in Him and how much He loves me that I should be able to jump without being afraid of drowning. If my son can trust me enough to jump in a pool he can't swim in, I should trust Jesus enough to jump into His plans when I can't see where they are going. I love Lincoln. I would never let him fall. Jesus loves you. He'll never let you drown.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” [Deuteronomy 31:6]
